Powering the recycling sector - A new grid connection for BWS Waste Management

Vattenfall IDNO has signed a contract with Independent Connections Provider (ICP), ESE (Engineered Systems Electrical LTD) to install an 11 kV point of connection for BWS Waste Management.

BWS Waste Management operates efficient waste management solutions across Essex, Hertfordshire, and Kent. The new grid connection will support a recycling wash plant, a facility designed to clean and process various types of waste materials, such as construction and demolition debris. The process recovers valuable resources like sand and aggregates and removes contaminants to produce high-quality recycled materials that can be used in construction and other applications.

Delivering this project aligns with Vattenfall IDNO’s commitment to quickly connect UK businesses to the electricity grid, ensuring they are part of the UK’s journey to Net Zero.

Engineered Systems Electrical LTD will be constructing the substation, installing and commissioning the substation plant, and will be cabling and carrying out the final 11kV connections into Northern Powergrid’s network.

Tom Ainley, Operations Director at ESE, said:

We’re looking forward to building a relationship with Vattenfall IDNO. Delivering the BWS project will hopefully be the first of many to come.

Stewart Dawson, Managing Director at Vattenfall IDNO, said:

We are proud to partner with ESE on the electrification of BWS Waste Management. Supporting businesses which prioritise sustainability, such as BWS, is intrinsic to our mission at Vattenfall IDNO. We look forward to working together to deliver an efficient grid connection.
